Flammable starter fluid is not required for use with the Pyromid. Safe, non-toxic Safelite™ starters are used to ignite a small, concentrated, environmentally enclosed fire. Only a handful of briquettes are required for an efficient cooking fire. The fewer the briquettes, the smaller the fire and less dangerous it is, especially with children around. When its cover is in place, the Pyromid's small fire is enclosed and sheltered from the wind, which in an open fire can cause sparks to fly. The reflective foil liner and inverted pyramid design keeps the Pyromid stove's base cool to the touch. Because of this, the Pyromid can safely be used on a picnic table, car tailgate or boat deck.
